Description

Easy to install “piggyback” for increasing boost.  Gains of up to 85 WHP are possible with an otherwise completely stock N63T3 engine, fuel system, and exhaust.  The amount of additional boost can be adjusted from 0 to 6 psi with the turn of a screwdriver.  Best results are achieved with an E30 fuel mix, but 93 octane pump works well also.  Engineered and assembled in the USA by Baski Speedworks with high quality and high temperatures components.  Currently available for N63T3 engines.  Versions for S58 and B58 engines are coming soon.

Boost Tuner results for a stock 2021 X5M50i (N63T3) with E33 fuel, 1/2 tank of gas, 4500 ft elevation, 47 degF outside air temperature, 4700 ft DA:

How does it work?  Like other “piggyback” devices on the market, it offsets the signal from the pressure sensor so that the engine computer (DME) thinks boost is lower than actual.  The DME then increases WDGC (wastegate duty cycle) to bring the offset boost up to the boost target, resulting in higher actual boost.  The offset is not a fixed value, it is shaped to pass DME’s internal pressure sensor checks and to provide a smooth increase in power.

Are any other changes required? No other modifications are needed, though to make the most power, higher octane fuel is recommended to avoid ignition timing cuts that will reduce performance gains.  93 octane pump gas works well.  Even better, N63T3 vehicles can handle up to an E40 fuel mix with no hardware or DME tuning changes – adding 1 gallon of E85 for every 2 gallons of gas in your tank results in an E35 mix, which is about 96 octane and eliminates timing reductions to make the most power.

Will the Boost Tuner make the engine run lean?  The air fuel ratio (AFR) is constantly monitored by the DME through input from the O2 sensor and dynamically adjusted through changes to injector opening durations, so the increased boost is automatically handled by the closed-loop AFR capabilities of the engine and the engine will not run lean.
